OK...so I'm not rich...yet. I started this blog from nothing. I had an idea that has already been done a thousand times over - yes, get rich online. Except, I'm not rich! Why would you want to read this blog?! I have nothing to back up what I say! That's OK. I'm just starting out and likewise you probably are too. As I go through the ups and downs of exploring the world of web-based commerce as a part-time player, hopefully, I can share my knowledge with you. And, I like the same in return. Please feel free to contribute to this blog regularly. That way, we'll get a free-flowing discussion of ideas that will ultimately lead us to other ideas for generating cash flow. I'm a believer in the concept that you cannot start a business and expect it to grow exponentially without help. You need to surround yourself with people smarter than you. Considering I am pretty egotistical, you'd think I'd have a hard time doing that, but you'd be surprised. I tend to rely on many people's strengths more than I'd like to admit. I definitely think you should allow outside input when writing in your blog, updating your web-based business, or when starting your latest business venture. Two businessmen I admire, Robert Kiyosaki and Warren Buffett, both admit that they rely heavily on people smarter than them. So, my point is, let's learn together through visitor contributions to the blog.
Either way, I feel like I'm taking on giants like John Chow and Shoemoney who have already made their presence in the Google AdSense and affiliate marketing arena online. I don't think I'll even come close to their status to be quite honest with you. I want to earn money through my websites just like everyone else and I want to help you too with my ideas. But, I'm gonna need your help to stay motivated.
First, I'd recommend starting out with a free blog such as Google Blogger. From here, you can apply for Google AdSense - which is the gold standard money making ad network on the net. There are others, but I'd definitely get set up with AdSense. John Chow uses a combination of AdSense and affiliate marketing ads. Affiliate marketing is basically when you place ads on your website for products companies are trying to sell. If the person clicks on the ads from your website and then hopefully BUYS something, you'll get a small commission. I've tried this approach, which has not been extremely successful. At least with AdSense, I've already collected 5 or 6 paychecks by now. And, with that money, I can plunk down on other websites or hosting or whatever. The money can sit in my account and earn interest or I can buy gold with it!
So, I'd recommend opening your own blog through Google for now. Get set up with AdSense and start placing ads on your website. Then, you need to get your website out there for people to see! You can "add your URL" to search engines such as Google, Yahoo, etc. That way, when people search for your site or a topic of interest on your site, you'll come up in the listings. Warning - you likely won't be ranked number one on Google or Yahoo without paying for it. But, they want the most complete listing of websites, so they'll likely include you in their listing. You can go to Google, search for how to add a URL to Google, click on that link and follow the directions. It's that simple! You can also add your site to blog directories and sites like Digg.com which will get your site major exposure.
So, that's kind of the quick and skinny on starting your blog, getting the idea to monetize your blog with AdSense, and then getting your site out there for people to visit and hopefully click on your ads! Please feel free to contribute your experiences. I'd be happy to visit your site once it's all done! Let me know...
